The average person spends at least one-third of his/her life in an educational setting. If we are motivated to obtain a higher degree, the length of time can be even greater. The earlier we can determine our learning style, the more productive we can be in a school and beyond. After all, learning does not end with the attainment of a degree.
Educational settings are increasing the demands placed upon our children at a younger age. A greater emphasis is being placed on standardized tests to determine “proficiency”. Additionally, we are asking our youth to choose an educational specialization as they enter high school. The expression, “quicker, better, faster” cannot begin to explain the demands placed on our children. We are asking them to be skilled standardized test takers and excel academically in school by obtaining high grade point averages and class rankings. However, many parents and students are not able to articulate how they learn or choose a consistent individualized learning strategy. It remains imperative that parents understand the learning needs of their child. As a parent, the earlier profiling is accomplished, the more enjoyable and productive the learning process can be for your child.
